I recently ripped Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail to VCD using the Afterdawn guide for DVD2VCD (exactly, step by step). However, I cannot get the VCD to play in a conventional DVD player. My DVD player supports VCD usage, but it does not recognize the disk. Did I perhaps burn the cd to fast? Is there a specific type of media made for VCD burning? I used a 16x(max) Memorex CD-r (700 megs, 80 mins). I burned it at 4x, using Nero, as suggested. Any ideas?

You followed the Nero guide? If so, try the VCD with some other DVD player, like ones from Pioneer -- just visit your local electronics store with the disc. If it works, you can be sure that your player has some issues with the CD media you used, so try different CD brand.

Don´t use Nero.
Try something else.
CDRWIN 5.X is very good..

Edit: I was same king problems, but when I burn disks with CDRWIN (v5.x) there was no problems. Make sure you settings is correct..
