Memory stick to external usb device mod?

I just read a thread that reminded of a thought I had awhile back. Is there any way to take something like an IPod or some other type of usb device to act as a memory stick? Either through homebrew or wiring a usb cord so one end has the casing of a memory stick duo so it would basically look like this:
USB-----[Duo}{PSP}
Any ideas? Could I just use the usbhost thing on the PSP or does it need a script running on the other end?
