I have purchased a Dreambox 500C box. I am new to this. Could you please help me with this question . What is the best image to "flash" the box with and what frequency etc should I set it to to receive the Chorus digital channels on my cable system.

Flash a uk modded gemini image and do a manual scan via frequency 00322 and symbol rate 06875.
A 500c box is only functional for chorus cable. If you get chorus mmds you will get no channels.

Untick inversion, set modulation to 64qam and FEC to 3/4.

I have done manual scan on freq 00322 and the other settings. But no joy. Do Chorus use the same freq in all Irish systems or do they vary from county to county. Tnx

You should be sure that you get chorus cable.
Chorus mmds is not functional with a 500c box.

I have Chorus cable. I can receive all the analogue channnels on my TV.

That say nothing.
In some areas are a few analogue only cable networks left over and you will get a mmds aerial if you subscribe to digital.
If you don't own a digital subscribtion you should check your neighbourhood for digital.

The reason I ask is: The one that is loaded only gives me the option to do automatic scan on freq's 06887 and 06952 not 06875. I would feel happier if I could do auto scan on 06875. That is the reason I was asking.

Is sym 06875 only used in Ireland. Is the "image dw-dream-uk1-5" the UK modded Gemini you mention or is there another one.

No, its not a gemini but also enigma based. You can use it if you want.
Symbol rate 06875 is only in use for chorus cable.
