So yes, it is well documented in this forum and elsewhere that sometimes after plugging in component cables (using HD AV pack) to the XBox, you still need to navigate in the X Box dash to 'Settings' to 'turn on' 1080i and widescreen.

Well, I have a modded XBox, running EvoX, and I cant get back to the normal XBox dashboard (not sure what is wrong, error 21), so therefore it doesnt seem like I have access to this 'Enable HD' setting.

My question is - is the ONLY way to get the Xbox to output its video in HD is to configure this settings?

Is there a chance that simply hooking up the HD AV Pack will automatically trigger this system setting?

Note, I dont have the HD AV pack yet, but when I do get it, I want to know if I'll be unable to take advantage of it until I figure how to get back to the original XBox dash.
