Hi all.
Tried several things and looked on here but can't find what I need.
I have a ISO file, 4,704,070

Sorry, pressed the wrong button.
I have a ISO file, 4,704,040 kb.
I have used Folder2ISO to convert and have a AVI file showing 700mb or (734,263,296 bytes).
I have attempted to use Nero and DivXtoDVD to convert and burn to dvd.
Each time i am being told that the file is too big for the disk.
What do i do?

So you took a DVD video ISO and converted to AVI, then back to DVD video or you started off with the AVI?
Either way the size of the AVI isn't the problem. Your output bitrate and the length of the AVI are the issue. size = (bitrate * length) + overhead where bitrate is the new bitrate, not the bitrate of the original AVI.

Hey stop it your confusing me now :-)
O.k. lets keep this simple for the simple, ie, me!
I'll start again.
I downloaded and have a 700mb AVI file.
I want to burn it to dvd, it is a dvd rip i believe.
The way I tried was to turn it into a ISO file showing 4.48gb when i hover the mouse over it yet it says it is 4,704,040kb in the icon description. So when i try to burn to a standard dvd it says there isn't enough room.
Another issue i get when i burn converted AVI files is a strange jerk as the camera is panning during movies, it sort of jitters instaed of being smooth.
Is this a known problem?

The easiest way to convert a AVI file so that it can fit and be plaued on a DVD is. By using a program called Winavi. Which let's you convert the file into DVD format and then take it through CloneDVD or Nero and that will compress and burn it to disc. A link to the program and a guide on how to use theprogram can be forund on my profile page.

You shouldn't need to compress after converting. If you do then you set the wrong bitrate, the converter has poor bitrate calculation or poor rate control.

Borhan, i click your link for Winavi and it takes me to Folder2Iso? which I already have and seems very buggy. It told me it couldn't read the fist sector of my AVI yet other programmes could, it's a beta version so..........
Whats happened to Winavi?
A fellow red in Australia, don't get to Old Trafford much huh? :-)

Right, after much faffing i have been able to burn my AVI to dvd.
I am now using cucusoft AVI to DVD pro. It seems very good and stable.
My next problem is this, I have a film that needs a sub title.I have the AVI file of the movie but the subtitle file is seperate and is called a SUB file. If i burn just the AVI i get a movie with no subtitles, if i try to drag and drop the SUB file the prog doesn't recognise it. How do i get the titles on the dvd?
I have also had a thought on the stepping problem i have, see above, could i maybe of burnt a file in NTSC by mistake, would playing a NTSC dvd on a PAL system cause this jerking problem?

There is a program called Submagic I think its here on Afterdawn or just do a Google search. What this program does is you insert the AVI file and then it finds the subs for you, or you can put the sub file into after the AVI file. Have a look see and let us know your progress.
