Trouble Loading PAL Game

Hello everyone! This is my first post here so I thought I'd use it to ask a question about a problem I've been having with a back-up of Final Fantasy XII.

This version that I found online is French and thus in PAL format. I downloaded the ISO which went fine and then I patched the file using Pal2ntsc which also worked properly.

Now I burned the patched ISO using DVDDecryptor and then when I went to play the game on my chipped PS2 I had this problem. I load the PS2 with the game inside and the game loads through the Playstation Logo screen that pops up when a game has been detected.

Then I see the screen flash as if the game has been loaded but then it flashes once or twice again and then the screen just stays black. Nothing loads. I tried the disk several times and even re-burned the ISO but I still am having the problem. It can't be my PS2 because it's loading NTSC games fine. I'm wondering if maybe I shouldn't have patched the ISO in the first place? What do you guys think the problem might be? Any help or advice is much appreciated! Thanks everyone!

what kind of chip do you have? That would be the key.
Most good chips will play both PAL and NTSC with no need to patch the game with PAL2NTSC.
Have you tried making a copy that is not patched?

yes, it will load both PAL & NTSC. But unlike a mod chip you will have to set the screen mode on the main Swap Magic screen. PLus there is usually a little screen at the bottom cut off when using Swap Magic.
