Dbox2 problems with SPTS

Hi all,

I am trying to record from my Dbox to my PC over the network.
After hours of messing I have found that I only can play the recorded stuff back when I use "SPTS before recording" if I don't use it I just get a file and not a .TS file.

All free to air channels work but when I try to record say ITV2 the screen goes blank and the recording doesn't work.
I have also gone into the settings and selected SPTS to boot at start up, when I got to ITV2 again no picture or sound.

Does anyone know why this is happing, and is there a way to record without using SPTS? doing so I just get a file without an extension and cannot play this back

using direct file
bbc 1/2 itv channel etc all record and play back fine.
