I convert my AVIs and Divxs and they play perfect on the PC, then I burn them to DVD+R and they look cropped on my Samsung DVD-V3500... if it helps, I can burn VOB files just fine...(Copying dvds)

Ulead VideoStudio 7 to capture the movie, and Ulead Videostudio 7 to Convert the image and create an iso, and Nero to burn it...

i like the Videostudio 7.0 approach, drag, srop, and burn... any idea why it crops the videos, or a way around it?

@bgbop15
I had the same problems when converting AVI-DiVX to DVD+R, but I have now solution for my own situation. Maybe it could help you.
I convert AVI-DiVX (NTSC, 23.97fps) with aspect ratio 4:3 to DVD (NTSC,29,97fps) at low resolution (352x240, CBR 1500 kbs).
Firstly using GSpot to get information of the aspect ratio of the AVI. Then run TMPGEnc 2.5x, through Project wizard, select format DVD NTSC(low res.),next goto select source file, choose aspect ratio (=4:3 Display), next goto Filter setting, to avoid the top and bottom of the video to be cropped, click Clip frame, Arrange setting, at Arrange method choose Center(Custom size) 352x220 (thus not 352x240), OK. Click Other settings for bit rate, quality,... if desired then convert it to MPG.
When playing mpg on the PC, at top and bottom there are two small black margins to be seen, but playing DVD+R in standalone no more cropped.
The clue is CLIP FRAME
Hope this help you.

Why such a low resolution? and low bit rate? it is DVD afterall!

Dependent on the source AVI, you can choose any resolution and bit rate within DVD-standard.
If you have Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2, you can see compliant DVD resolutions.
My aim was to have many films on 1 DVD+R (5-6 hours), therefore CBR 1500 kbs, slightly better than VCD-standard. Further the resolution of the source AVI-DivX3 was 480x360 at about 600 kbs. Thus a poor quality!
But here we discuss about the video cropped. The cause is the Aspect ratio of the source (480x360 = 4:3 = 1.33) different than the one of the DVD-standard (702x480 = 352x240 = 1.46).
Supposed you want to have DVD-resolution 704x480, you can choose clip frame for 704x436 or 704x440 to avoid the video cropped on the TV.
Why 436 ?
Explanation: 480 x 1.33/1.46 = 436 !

I am trying to convert my AVI movies to dvd playable. I used TMPGEnc 2.5x to convert them to mpegs. I let it convert for like 5 mins then cancel to see if it is working. I run the maybe 1 min bit that it converted and the picture is there but know audio. Do i have to do something with the audio first. Im new at this so i have no clue where to go from here. And when i actually convert it to mpeg can i just use Nero to burn to dvd and thats it? (do i burn iso or dvd video?)
I would like to fix the audio problem first before i move onto the burning processs.
plx someone help meeeeeee!?!?!?!?
