I recently noticed my computer running kind of sluggish. Things that used to take less then a second are now noticably slower. I posted awhile back about having Apropos.B but I seem to have gotten rid of it. I posted a HiJack log but no one took a look at it. If someone could take a look at my current log that would be appreciated.

Ok, next can you download CCleaner, Ad-Aware SE and Spybot Search&Destroy from this site: www.majorgeeks.com
Then, update them. Please then boot into safe mode and run each one individually in safe mode. It is very important that you do this.
After you have finished doing this, please run HijackThis again and save the log to your desktop. Then, boot back into normal mode and run kaspersky online scanner, from here:
http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
After that scan has finished, please save the log and post both, the kaspersky log and the HjT log to your next log.

Actually... these are the lines you need to fix... you may want to print this out for reference during the fix.
Run and scan with HijackThis and place checks beside the following:

Close all open browsers/windows and click the Fix button.
Reboot into Safe Mode.
Make sure hidden files/folders are shown.
To enable the viewing of Hidden files follow these steps:
[*]Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
[*]Double-click on the My Computer icon (or click Start, then select My Computer)
[*]Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
[*]After the new window appears select the View tab.
[*]Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
[*]Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.
[*]Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
[*]Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer.
Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.
Search for and delete this file:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\amwekmg.exe
Reboot and post a new HijackThis log please. Also can you let me know if you have installed this(WinPCap) on purpose..

One thing you need to be aware of when working with HijackThis is that it has issues when reporting some files as missing(file missing) when they actually aren't. You will most commonly see this with 09's and 023's though it can be seen with other lines. This is a bug in the program.
The only lines it is accurate with when reporting (file missing) is with 02's and 03's. Those can be fixed.
You may also at time see it report back (no file)... those can be fixed regardless of what line it is on... the file is not there.

I followed KotaGuy's instructions on what to do with the HjT log. The files you asked me to delete in safe mode, C:\WINDOWS\system32\amwekmg.exe, is not on my computer and I followed your instructions exactly. As Waymon suggested I downloaded CCleaner, and I already had Spybot and Ad-Aware so I ran those as asked and ran HjT after while still in safemode. The kapersky online scanner gave me trouble, but if you think I should still run it I think I know why it didn't work and I'll mess around with it until it works. CCleaner found 44mbs of stuff to remove, and Ad-Aware and Spybot didn't find anything. KotaGuy, to answer your question about WinPCap, I'm not entirely sure. http://www.winpcap.org/ is their site I was directed to from my programs list but I'm still not entirely sure what it does. Here is my HjT log.

WinPCap is a packet capture/sniffer program that is sometimes installed by malware... if you didn't knowingly install it you can uninstall it.
Other than that your log looks clean.
How is your PC behaving?

It seems much better but I want to give it a few days and test everything I usually do. I've been overly busy lately so it might be a few days before I can get some free time to test everything out. I'll remove WinPCap because I really don't remember installing it, then again I checked the install date and it was in 2005 so I very well might have installed it and simply can't remember. I'll post again probably friday, or sooner if I can get around to it, and tell you how my computer is running. Thanks a lot for your time and help, I appreciate it.
Also this probably isn't the right place in the forums but a quick question. Anywhere you recommend as a site I can learn to use and read HjT and other things like this? I'm good with computers but know little in this area (being viruses and programing languages) and it's probably time I learned.

Dealing with malware is much more than learning to use HjT. Its learning how to identify infections, know what they do, and what tools you need to use to fully get rid of them from a computer.
If you would like to learn all facets of it... drop by MalwareRemoval and request to join the Uni.
If you do you would be seeing a lot more of me... I'm an Admin/Teacher there ;)

No. In my PC it runs fast for a while then sometimes it slows to a near halt. IE you click on an icon and wait 30sec - or minutes before the program starts. normally its a few seconds.
RE winpcap - this a library file used to decode network data from a network card. Its not dangerous on it own, but a malware may use it to run. download and run depends.exe from http://www.dependencywalker.com to see what winpcap.dll uses.

Yeah... I know waht WinPCap is and how it can be used by Malware.
And he did at one point have an infection....
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\Userinit.exe,amwekmg.exe
That exe at the end of the F2... possibly a remnant of Apropos... looks more like a spambot though.
Regardless... the file wasn't there... just a leftover registry entry.
