Ok,
I have installed chips in the Playstation1 and the N-Gamecube(Qoob-pro). I do not have a PS2 yet and am going to get one along with a chip. I have a choice between the Version 7 older fatty..or the newer Grey thin PS2(V-15?).
Q1 What version should I go with?

Q2 What model is easier to install/solder a chip into?...is there a big difference?

I remember something about desireable ports being removed in the newer models or something...and something about the built in IR DVD remote sensor.
Q3 Any advantage to go for a certain model there?

I'm debating over the DMS4 Pro SE chip and the Crystal Pro v2.0 SLE Limited from Mod-Chip.com

Q4 Any obvious reasons to go with one over the other?

Thanks for the help in advance..and if ya need some GC advise...I'd be happy to try to help..

1. Personally i would get the V7.
reasons are it is one of the best models they made and has a strong laser. Can easily be fitted with an internal IDE hard drive (unlike the V15) which is a great addition. Store and play games from the hard drive and save your laser and discs, plus faster loading times.

2. Installing a mod chip should be similar for both. If you have done it before i would not worry much about the install, more about what type of chip you get. The Crystal Chip V2.0 seems to be very popular these days. The Matrix Infinity green dot is also a good choice. And the DMS4 Pro is a third good option.

3. all the reasons above. The V15 just isn't as stron a system, may have heat issues, and can not have the internal hard drive.

4. As far as the chips go. I have a DMS4 Pro and love it. It's only downfall is that they firmware team really doesn't do anything anymore. So no more support or updates may be coming.
The Crystal Chip V2.0 team is still active and they seem to have a lot of really good features and are gaining popularity in the modding community.
The Matrix Infinity is another team that is still active and their chip is also very solid.

hope that helps

just remember to go out and find the latest hacked firmware.
And also check out their home page as they have other stuff you can download and use.
