I am just getting into this DVD-RW stuff. I am looking to purchase a new DVD recorder. I am looking into the HP DVD300i Internal DVD+RW Drive.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with PS2 game backups and movies. Is this a good unit or something else?

Thanks
Mike

No. Get a duel format such as the sony dru.?.?.? or pioneer dvr-a06. Anyway even though +r is in theory more compatiable -r is proven more compatiable

Win xp sp1
amd 2000+
256MB ddr 333
pioneer dvr-ao6
NERO, DVD-DEcrypter, Shrink 3.0 beta 5

I have the HP 300i dvd burner and havent had a problem yet. Great piece of hardware, even though it doesnt write dvd-rs. I reccommend it. If you want to cough up another 100-150$ for a dual recorder then be my guest, but if your dvd player can play dvd+rs then theres no point really.

Well, I went out and purchased the HP300i. It was $179 Canadian, which is a STEAL!

I plan to make backup copies of my PS2 games, I am trying to use nero v6 BUT the DVD is not a copy option, miniDVD is there.... is there something I should know? How do I use it? I'll keep fooling with it while I wait for an answer....

Thanks
Mike

you really are new- no offence

But dvd's and ps2 games are encrypted you cannot just use a regular buring prog like Nero becuase it is illeagle atleast in the states. for dvd's use DVD Shrink 3.0 beta 5(search for it in after-dawn) and for ps2 games i like Prassi. BUt for ps2 u need a mod chip since you seem computer unliterate use one in which you do not have to solder like swap magic.

£81.87 is a cheap price , I wouldn't say it's a steal cos it's a +R burner...ppl did try to warn you before you purchased it

DVD Decrypter will do PS2 games for ya , just stick it ...do an ISO image & then burn that ISO image with DVD Decryptewr aswell if you want

Good decision mikestr. I bought mine for 300$ canadian a few months ago, so id say u got a wicked deal. I still think that u dont need a combo burner, ones good enough if your dvd player works with it, and most dvd players do so dont worry about it. Good choice.

Thanks for the reply guys. I am a beginner at this DVD burning stuff, so I did not want to spend too much $$$.

I actually used DVD Encrypter on Tomb Taider and I was able to successfully copy the game. Although it does work in my PS2, I have an old Gameshark swap chip. Do I need to upgrade to a better chip? I read the document on this forum, BUT it is not very clear.... to me :-)

Thanks

if you originally bought it for ps1, say before ps2 came out or if it was only intended for ps1 then no, it will not work.
