I encoded a dvd, im converting it to avi using flaskMPEG. First I want to know what the data rate does, does it make it better picture. And if I increase to too much the file gets too big, how can I cut it so it will fit on two CD-R's.

the lower the bitrate the smaller the file will be, on average, you can use between 600 to 800 to fit on a single cdr. I suggest using a bitrate calculator, you just enter the filesize and the amount of space on a cd or cd's you want it to take up. Follow this link to the "Divx with FlaskMpeg Guide"
