Ok I recently bought a new PS3 from EBgames and I was sure to buy a extra 1 year warrenty on my PS3.

I got it Friday Night, played it for 4 hours that night at home. Went to bed, got up, played it all day saturday. Saturday night I found my old copy of XenoGears and I played that.

I was amazed the PS3 had like a internal memory card system for PS1/PS2 games, I loved that they thought ahead like that.

So I spent the rest of the night playing XenoGears. Sunday morning I got up, turned on my PS3, it sounded like it was booting up, beeped 3 times, then stoped running and flashed a red light.

I was so pissed, but then I found a fix online, where I just unplug and plug back in my PS3's hard drive. It Worked! I was so relieved!

I spent the rest of the day playing XenoGears and went to bed. Got up again the next day and the same thing happened!

This is very strange. It isn't like the PS3 does it when I get it working again, it plays fine all day long, it isn't until it gets like a 8 hour break that it does it.

And it didn't do it until I started playing XenoGears.

I don't move my PS3 around, it isn't like I am knocking the hard drive lose or something.

I am wondering, do you think it is faulty hardware? Or do you think a file got corrupt on the PS3 hard drive unit?

I was wondering if there was a way to copy and maybe even continue to use and save my game data from my SD card, and then just format my PS3 memory to see if that was the case?

i think the hard drive has a issue

here is how to test it

1. unplug the hard drive and try to start the console without the hard drive you should receive a error that it cannot find the hard drive then shut off the console and plug back in the hard drive and start the console up again

this test to see weather or not the ps3 is correctly picking up the hard drive if it is then i would say a faulty hard drive file or save file may be causeing this issue

Ok well, here is an update. I unplugged the hard drive from the PS3 and then went to boot it up. Didn't work, still got 3 beeps and a blinking red light.

So then I went online and someone said they had a "fix" for it and I tried it several times without success. I got annoyed because I live an hour and a half away from EBgames and I don't have time to go there right now.

Anyways, later on I tried it again and again and eventually it booted up for me, giving me the missing HD message, so I re-installed the HD and then started the PS3 up.

It worked like a charm all night, I played it for about 3 hours in a nice, open, well ventilated space and then I went to bed.

I got up the next morning and it did the same thing.

I have since then did the "remove HD, power up PS3" trick 4 more times to get my PS3 to boot up, and every time, it takes me like a billion trys and then I get it to boot up. play it for the night, go to bed, next day, bad signal again.

Man Sony has some real retards on their hands over at customer service. I sent them an e-mail about the whole thing, thinking it was odd I could keep it going all night, go to bed, wake up and then it not work again.

They send me another e-mail telling me to contact them on a phone number they gave me. So after waiting for like, a half an hour, I get this really slow guy, who says each word one at a time. Like really slow

He asks how he can help me, and I tell him the entire story. And then he asks for all my information and then he just asks if I want an exchange or not.

It was like he ignored everything I said. So I just hung up on him.

God damn you Sony, get better support.

This is why I want to get one from Costco. Free instant return no questions asked, until you return about 3 in a week. Then they start to wonder, but dont stop you if you have valid reasons.

Doesnt expecting the unexpected make the unexpected expected and therefore mean youre expecting the expected which was the unexpected until you expected it?

I got mine at walmart and my HDTV they take anything back. But I got that buzzing noise with the ps3 and lines down my screen. It was the cable wire. Though before I figured this out I called $ony and there like ok we'll give u a new ps3. A ups guy will delivery the free mail back thing. It's been 2 months nothing lol. No probs now, but they suck.

In fact I think we would be fooling our selves if we have a community this large, and did not realize that there are some enemies present.
