Trying to FTP Services xml files from lap-top to D Box. Using FTP Core Programme and a crossover cable between lap-top and D Box. Have static IP Addresses set as follows : PC 192.168.0.2 with submask 255.255.255.0.
D Box 192.168.0.4 with same submask as above and broadcast 192.168.0.255. I have also imputted Default Gateway and DNS Server address to 192.168.1.1. Do I put same default & DNS address on PC. When i try and connect through FTP software it advises that it cannot establish a connection. Do I have to adjust any mode on D Box to allow a connection be established with PC. Also can anybody advise whether I need to have an internet connection while FTP'ing. Anybody else out there able to offer any help or advice.

No, you seem to be set up correctly, but what image do you have installed? And what is the username and p/w you are trying?

Just to make sure everything is ok, try these:
dbox:
--Make sure DHCP is off
IP: 192.168.1.10
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Broadcast: 192.168.1.255
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (Shouldn't need)
DNS: Leave blank (Shouldn't need)
--Restart the network connections
PC:
IP: 192.168.1.11
See above for rest...
From your PC ping the dbox from the command line (ping 192.168.1.10) and make sure that your PC can see the dbox on the network.

Well, see above from a network settings perspective.
You can connect directly using either a null-modem cable or cross-over cable, or, you can connect via a router using a standard patch cable. If you're flashing from scratch using IFA think null-modem or cross-over, from an ongoing perspective hook it up to your router...
