its not the mfg date, its what drive you have

just flash the drive.. it is free and simple... no chip involved..

No offence but i dont understand why every1 wants mod chips when flashing is so easy, last i check there was like 4 or 11 solder points on the nme chip why risk ur 360, when flashing has relatively no risk...

agree, flash the drive. You need to find out which type you have and then get the latest flash for it. Look at the below picture to tell.



You also need to have SATA slots in your PC to flash, if not you can buy the Executer X360 USB kit and the blaster360 kit. that was you only have to open it the first time.

And a side note, you will void your waranty when you open it.
I do know someone who does flashing, he charges $65 which includes shipping and 9 times out of 10 he can remove the sticker without damage so if you need it later you can place it back on your 360 and you will keep your waranty.
