i was wondering if i would need to update my firmware(after the inital flash) to just play games offline.

and is the globe 360 the best ship to use for this?

flashing your firmware with something such as xtremem 5.2 allows you to play your games online and offline (same with all firrmwares)

you dont need a chip to flash your firmware...just an appropiate sata port and equipment (see tutorials on this site)
