hello, i have a problem with my matrix chip, it is an orginal with v 1.88 hardware. It used to work fine booting up ps2 backups although it used to have problems booting playstation backups. I always used verbatim cds and dvds. However, now my ps2 refuses to bootup any backups whatsoever although it boots up original games fine. Any ideas how to resolve this little predicament?
Yep, I ran into this exact problem a few times with my infinity chip.
Basically just go to the Matrix website and download the 1.88 firmware to your hard drive. If it comes as a .rar file, unzip and burn the .bin, .cue file to cd using Nero. Then just pop the cd into your ps2 and follow the simply on screen instructions and you should be back up and running ;-)
I originally had the 1.75 firmware and updated to the 1.88 but still get this problem from time to time, but thats life :-|
As I said, I get the same prob from time to time and just re-installing the same firmware does the job. So when you do re-install the 1.88 firmware, make sure to hold onto the 1.88 disc incase this happens in the future.
No joy, i even tried updating to 1.93 and then back to 1.88. I was suprised that it excepted the firmware disk actually. I find that my ps2 will actually play NTSC games as well as PAL still (it will play the original of xenogears) so there is still some level of functioning....
Any other ideas. I appreciate this.
