OK i have a question for everyone who has a slim. My extended warranty with best Buy expires March 14th. i can either keep my v12 or "upgrade" to the new v14 which is SCPH-75001. Codebreaker no longer works with the USB plug on those, and there a few other features that Sony removed (like the phone jack). Thing this is a good idea?

If yours is working fine, I would say stick with it, it could be that this one has a lot longer life then the one you are going to get, and you have additional features with the v12, such as HD support, which I believe was removed on the newer versions.
