Hi there,
I D/L a copy of MOH AA: Spearhead add-on. Originally it was just an image ISO file which was to be burned using Easy CD creator (well thats where the file took me when I clicked upon it...normally I only ever use Nero). It auto opens Easy CD - *bling* 'cannot read image file' (plus the ISO was over 750Mb, my cd-rom cant handle over 700 anyway; its stupid, dont ask).
After whizzing about online for answers I D/L the trial version of 'Undisker', I use that to convert the file and to have a look inside.
Everything seems fine, I extract all the files into a folder on my harddrive, I click the exe. it seems ok at first, but the install section flares up stating it cannot find a correct path to the registration serial number input.
Instead of trying to burn the folder to disc in an attempt to run it from disc (the files, not in ISO form are now less than 750Mb), I use a virtual drive created using Clone CD; to my surprize I mount the original ISO file using the virtual drive, low and behold it starts installing perfectly!!....until that is it reaches 53%, it then asks for data2.cab. on disc 1 !?! The add-on game is supplied on only one disc. I try in vain to supply the correct path but to no avail, where am I going wrong?
I've tried ejecting the virtual drive and reloading it hoping to trick the PC into thinking I've inserted another disc but it just aint happening. The data2 file is held within the setup folder of the ISO but the PC just cant get it path right. Should I try burning to disc, and if so how should I go about that?
I hope I dont come off as being too stupid here, but ISO images etc are new to me, (though I'm a wizard at the old DVD to VCD, with thanks to Afterdawn.com - no doubt the best website I've frequented in the past few years; I've learned a shedload from the site)
Any thoughts here would be dynamite,
cheers, geekboy

Just for the record, this is a back-up game of sorts; my PC crashed not long ago, after getting everything sorted I felt like a game of MoH Spearhead (after getting sick of Mafia that is; playing it for 7 odd hours daily can do that to you).
I've got my original copy of MoH AA but my former dorm mate decided to nab my Spearhead copy for the summer (no doubt I'll see it around winter time; gift wrapped as a present)

Nothing special when reading the image of MOA (Safedisc) so I recommend you try Daemon Tools > create 1 or more virtual stealth drives>mount image of MOH>enable Safedisc emulation>play "backup" from your created virtual stealth drive. I recommend you use FireBurner to burn the iso image(s) m8 if you own a "2 sheep burner". Post the name brand& model of your cd burner and I'll help you on that issue.

Your home dvd player don't support SVCD(MPEG2) playback? Look for "PBC" feature on the dvd player or remote and if you have that feature, you can rip a dvd and encode to SVCD= much better video quality than VCD (MPEG1)

Hi Shoey, thanks for replying, I'm gonna try what you suggested right this minute. From what I can tell my cd-rom/re-writer is a;
IDE-CD R/RW 8X4X32 2,0
I believe its a pretty basic standard one, I've had it for quite some time so its prob old hat (and as I said, it cant handle discs over 700mb, its a sensitive little bugger).
Again my DVD player is an older model, it doesnt support SVCD, though I did buy my dad a more modern model for his birthday which does support SVCD, he doesnt even use it that often so perhaps a trade is in the pipeline *ahem*

Well if it were me, I sure and the heck would m8. If you get the dvd player I'll be more than happy to share a great guide on how to backup DVD 2 SVCD and tools you would need via pm. If you backup pc games on a routine basis as many newer games have some type of cd protection on them then I recommend you purchase another cd burner. Go with a Asus, Polaroid BurnMAX, LiteOn or MemorexMAXX m8 (52x). A good dvd\cd-rom would be helpful to play your backups, preferably a Toshiba or Asus.

Would bet money this is a Phillips cd burner..

Hi again,
I'm sad to say the same thing happened again, I followed your instructions but at 53% install it requires data2.cab. on disc 1.
The data2.cab. is in the setup folder; it is in a zipped/rar format...should I perhaps unzip it, re-mount it and direct the path to it; though would I have to recreate the ISO as I would have to extract the contents first, unless can I alter an ISO without having to extract.
I hope I'm not coming off sounding like a complete fool here, but this is my first attempt at this *cowers*

Use BlindWrite Suite 4.55 and use these settings to burn.
Open Blindwrite Suite and choose burning wizard (icon on the right). Go to Blindwrite configuation and click next>enable autoplay support and enhance weak sectors and associate file extension and next>start cd writing wizard>next>look up and be sure your IDE-CD R/RW 8X4X32 2,0 is selected>next>click select cd image file folder and locate your MOA: AA (cd 1) image>next>next> burn DAO pw at 8x to a cd-r(w)(click go). After burning insert the backup in
Repeat this process for cd 2 but disable "enhance weak sectors" Insert your backups in your dvd\cd-rom and try to install\play.

Thanks again for takin time out to help dude but I was just about to try what you suggested; there is only one disc to Spearhead (the add-on to MoH AA), its not like the original game with 2 discs, there only is a single disc hence only a single ISO, but the PC for some strange reason believes there should be 2 discs hence its always asking for the 2nd disc at 53% install.
I'll D/L the program you just suggested for reference or incase I can eventully use it when I/we (mostly likely not me!) work this problem out...there has to be a way if all the essential data is there..

Hi again,
Ok I tried to use Blindwrite Suite, went through all the steps you pointed out but just as I hit 'go' to burn, a list of errors appears as to why the burn could not take place...hmm I'm lost now, I'm starting to think there is noway around this problem, from what I've read online it appears the protection upon the game is actully quite strong and is difficult to overcome..think I should just call it quits?

Did you save the log m8? What burn errors did you encounter? Burning Safedisc isn't the problem, it's getting the backup to play is the problem (hehe) using ASPI 4.6? I hope you don't have a darn corrupt file..... When you went to load the MOA: AA iso file, did you check ISO File compliant image format (ISO) instead of All support toc formats?

Yeah it also may be worthwile to translate IDE-CD R/RW 8X4X32 2,0 into something more useful hehe.
To determine your make and model of your optical drives; if you happen to have Nero Infotools installed, start it up and under the Drive tab, it will list all the relevant specifications and capabilities of your burner. The actual name of your burner is listed in the drop-down box at the top (those numbers before the name of your burner are important too!). You can get InfoTools from http://www.cd-rw.org/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/nero_info_tool.cfm

What confuses me is why it is asking for disc 2 when it is a one disc image!

Perhaps the cd image is incorrectly named?

I had to go out for the afternoon/evening there hence I couldnt reply sooner, sorry if it appeared I had given up there,
Ok looking through the BlindWrite summary after loading up the ISO: The 'Online information to copy this CD' dialoge box reads;
Medal Of Honor AA - Spearhead Expansion
Difficulty : VERY HARD (very strong copy protection, with hardware requirements)
Read method : Nibble
Subcode extraction : Not required
Write Method : DAO mode required (DAO PW preferred)
Weak sector enhancement : Required (check)
Play backup : Only from CD reader, Autoplay for BW maybe required.
Protection is Safedisc 2.80
After starting the CD image verification the results are;
Image consistency - HD Image OK
Sector headers - Sectors headers are correct
Read errors - Some sectors have uncorrectable errors
Weak sectors - No detected weak sectors
File systems - Volume & file system found (MOHAAS - date etc.)
Physical media - No physical media data found
Synthesis - This image is good
Recommandations - Use "Sao cooked" writing mode
I'm gonna check my ASPI settings asap and I'll have to D/L Nero-infotools, (I do have Nero but no tools)..I'll do all this tommorow, I gotta catch some Z's right now (this newbie's brain is fried with frustration)
and I believe the cd image is named correctly as it runs fine until the dreaded 53%, and the online profile using BlindWrite appears to measure up,
Thanks for the input guys, I really do appreciate the time your takin here,
cheers, geekboy

Hey everybody *Dr Nick style*
Ok I D/L all the essentials this morning, I did indeed have to update my ASPI from some really low number to 4.71 (tell me thats right, I used the D/L from adaptec)
From Nero InfoTools I've found out my cd-rw drive is (as it states in the drop down box);
[3:1] R:\IDE-CD R/RW 8X4X32
Also the modes were TAO, RAW DAO 16 (not too sure how important that is)
There is no other info with regards to model/manufact...
----------------------------------------------
After updating the ASPI I once again attempted to use BlindWrite; it didnt happen. Though the list of reasons for why it didnt start the burn was much shorter this time. There is quite a bit of detail in there howerver;
Error during writer initialization. Can't stsrt writing.
Microsoft Windows Me
Patin-couffin version 13 in use
Blindwrite Version 4.5.6.87

You might need to do the Pattin-Couffin test again now that u have a newer version of ASPI? (a complete shot in the dark here)
