My DVD burner won't read ps2 games, but will backup dvd's with no problem. could there be a problem with the brand/model burner I have? Or maybe some sort of driver settings that are out of whack? Thanks for your time.

Highly unlikely that would have any bearing on why the disc won't read in the DVD-ROM drive! lol.
My guess is that the disc you are trying to read is either a backup on poor quality media, or if its an original, then it's too badly scratched/damaged to read.

i have no idea what fat32 is. but the game i'm speaking of is an original, and it is brand new. this suck, i just bought a modded ps2 so i could backup my games.
burner=tsstcorp cd/dvdw ts-h552b, (came with my e-machines t6412).
the programs i've tryed, UltraISO, Alcohol20%, DVDDecrypter, Nero, Ripit4me. I've tryed several games, scarface is the most recent. but they all seem to have trouble being read.
i was backing up one of my originals for the first time yesterday and when i put it in i got the pop up for a blank disc but alcohol still saw the whole disc and backed it up perfectly
