Other than some orphaned entries, a leftover Symantec service and your Java being out of date... your log is clean.

No visible nasties.

When did the slowness start? And do you remember installing/uninstalling anything around that time?

within the last 2 weeks. other than my usual dl's that i religously check for problems, nothing out of the norm. i also have a problem with my router. i can go from 200 kbps to 2 then back up.etc. and verizon is telling me there is no problem with my computer receiving the speed.its after it enters my system that it slows down.its frustrating not knowing. if it was spyware i can understand but again i come up clean

OK... let clean up the leftovers anyways...

Click Start>Run and type in appwiz.cpl and hit Enter. From the uninstall any/all instances of the Java Runtime Environment. Once done you can close the Add/Remove Programs window.

Run and scan with HijackThis and place checks beside the following:

R3 - URLSearchHook: &Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - Software - (no file)

Close all open windows/browsers and click the Fix button.

Click Start>Run type in cmd and hit Enter. From the command prompt type:

sc stop Symantec Core LC and hit Enter. Then type:

sc delete Symantec Core LC and hit Enter.

You can close the command box now.

Reboot.

Go here:

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

Scroll down to Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 and click the Download button.

Click the radial button beside Accept License Agreement... the page will refresh.

Then click the link for the Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language and install the newest version of Java.

Post a new HijackThis log when done.

Thanks.

???

That Symantec entry is still there.

Run HijackThis. Click the Misc Tools button. Then click the Uninstall Manager button. Then click the Save List button.

Save the list to your Desktop and copy/paste the contents of it in your next reply please.

kota- someone told me that my torrent client(bitlord) got into my memory and is screwing things up. they said to delete it and get another one and that should do the trick. what do you think?

Could be... doing a bit of snooping around I've found quite a bit of complaints about BitLord slowing systems and internet connections down. As well as just being an overall slow torrent client.

If I need to download a torrent I use uTorrent.

Would probably get better answers about that by posting to the uTorrent forums.
