Strange 360 Game Freezes

My last 2 backups (FIFA 07 and Crackdown) both freeze at the beginning of the game. I got these games from some popular trackers out there, and I've never had a problem in the past (backed up dozens of 360 games, without a problem).
FIFA gets to the "English or Espanol" part and freezes the system. Crackdown gets to the "read the dossier" part and freezes.

I tried updating my firmware, which didn't help at all.
Has anybody else had this problem?

Possibly, but I think it's strange that my last 2 burns have been bad, when all others have been ok.
And to clarify, I've only updated the firmware on the dvd-writer.
I'm just not sure it's worth it to buy some other brand media just to try it out.

what firmware is on the dvd drive in you 360? you may want to update it.. i use 5.2b and no problems..

Got some Verbatim DL's, and the games work perfectly.
