Im having a problem with my Onboard Intel Pro/100 VE Network, when I run Windows XP it says that the internet is connected with the twin screens flashing blue but when I load up the internet it says "page cannot be displayed." While the computer is booting up a message pops up saying "NIC Failure" but I haven't a clue what it is. I have tried using different cables but still no luck. I have also tried updating the drivers but still had no luck. It is a Dell OptiPlex 170L.

Thanks

Is it a direct connection with your modem, or do you use a router?

It is connected to the router, could you help me fix this problem?

Check the Device Manager.

Right click My Computer, go to Properties. Click on the Hardware tab, and go to the Device Manager. Find the NIC...and see what kind of icon is next to it. An ! or ? or red X.

If the onboard chip has failed (red X) and cannot be fixed by reinstalling the drivers...you can turn it off in the BIOS and get an NIC card. They're about $20 for a good one.

Thanks for the info but when I click on the hardware tab in Device Manager, the icon isn't a ! or a red X, the driver appears to be working.

Sorry for the delay in the responses.

If you haven't gotten it fixed yet, try removing the device from the Device Manager. Right click it, and choose to Uninstall. Restart the computer.
