I'm capturing home videos (Digital 8 tapes) using the USB interface on my Sony TRV340. The best resolution it allows is 320X240. After capturing it directly to MPEG2 using DVD Movie Factory, I select the "create DVD" option and the software converts the file to 720X480. The resulting video (on my TV) is not very good. Would I get better results/higher resolutions if I (a) did my capturing via my Hauppauge TV card instead of using the USB interface, (b) used the firewire interface instead, or (c) used different software? I don't know if the limitations lie in the camera or in the software.... It seems to me I shouldn't have to "stretch" the video to 720X480, but I'm still new at this. Any advice would be great!
