Im just about to go get myself a fancy new toy and was wondering if ill have to search for a specific one or are all of the versions of the 360's dvd drive flashable?

i think there is a hitachi that cant be flashed, all the sammy drives can be, and the phillips one cant yet

is it safe to assume that they all will eventually? and does anyone have any clue of the likelyhood of getting a non-flashable one?

im sure they eventually will, but i dont know when, and im not sure, look for one with an older mfg date and you should be good. ask the sales rep to let you see it before you buy it

Thanks alot for the speedy replys. im not too concerned as to when it might happen. ill hang on for a while anyways to make sure i dont have a lemon before i void anything.
where might this date be located on the box?

there should be a hole in the box somewhere on the back where they scan it, you will see it, just turn the box around

I can flash all hitachi drives (even the 0079) and samsung drives. Only one I can't flash yet is the BENQ.

I asked the person who modded mine if he could flash my friend's one, and he said that it doesn't matter what drive it is, he can flash them all at the moment.

Yeah the BenQ is the only one that can't be flashed right. The new Hitachi can be.

I keep seeing people's gamer profile pics in their sigs, how are they getting that image? Is it by ways of a TV card, digital camera.....?

yeah, every store offers some kind of in-store warranty, if you get the benq drive just take it back and say the dvd drive wouldnt open or something
