Help with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

I just bought a HPdv9000 laptop with xp media center edition 2005.

My problem is when ever I try to install an application that requires changing the registry (with a keygen)it will not allow it.

It states must be be administrator. I am listed as the administrator, but it will not let me execute.

My question is? Is there a way around this problem?
