My friend gave me an AV adaptor and i have no idea what is used for.
Also I want to know that is you buy the broad band network adaptor and just connect it to your ps2, will you be able to go online just like that or do you need anything else?

Yes, buy the network adaptor and your set. Connectivity depends on your internet setup and isp. If your using a router, you just plug it in and play. If you wan't to connect it directly to your broadband modem, you may or may not need to contact your isp to get a separate ip address for your ps2 (you might just be able to plug and play).
