One of two things occur when attempting to capture DV from Canon GL2 using MyDVD program - either the capturing process starts, stops after 15 to 30 seconds and camera disconnects OR No capture at all and get "could not complete last command because no video decoder available for this streak type (DVDerr, -47003). Parameters are: Windows XP, NEC ohci compliant IEEE 1394 card, Canon GL2 dv camcorder connected to firewire port on Dell PC
This problem occurs with various capture programs including Windows Moviemaker (after updating to microsofts 1394 drivers) as well as with MyDVD and others.
What are the most likely reasons for this situation? Driver problem? Specific camera (ie with Canon GL2 being new could there be compatibility issues?) or even the card itself (I have noted that my NEC firewire card is not on MyDVD list for compatible cards , but then how do you explain failure to work with the other capture programs?)
