Hey everyone.

I guess I could be classified as a "cheap ass gamer".

The thing is that I have a slim PS2, and i want to use USB advance.
The problem is that that's very hard to do without an internal or an external hard drive.

At first, I was going to buy an ext. HDD. I saw a Western Digital 80GB MyBook for 64.99 (NewEgg).

But my cheap ass gamer senses kicked in, and I searched some more.

I looked some more, and found a 160GB internal HDD for 52.99, and an enclosure for 10.99 (together that's 63.99, cheaper AND more memory than the other alternative).

I was wondering if the interface really mattered.
As you probably know, I'm on a really REALLY tight budget.

Should I go with the new SATA interface, or the traditional IDE/PATA?

What are the pros of the two?
What are the cons?
I wanna know so I get the most bang for my buck.

(Note: The deal found above with the internal HDD and the enclosure are both for IDE)

i ave a funny feeling that i read somwhere that sata wont work.

i need a ide drive in a usb housing (housing must b usb1.1 compatible, not just usb2.0)

or u need to buy a usb hdd (much more expensive)

i priced these a while ago and it would be

$300AUD for 500Gb Western digital usb extenal hdd (smaller usb hdd's wernt much cheaper)
OR
$100AUD for 160Gb ide hdd and $30AUD for usb casing

even if u dont use australian dollars (AUD) its plain to see which is the cheaper option.

just a side note aswell, usb advance (the "free cracked" version of usbextreme) doesnt like some hdd's, and is only compatible with about 5-25% of all games so expect ALOT of failures.
