Matshita uj-840d DVD DL burning problem

I understand that there a lot of problems with the Matshita uj-840d DVD burner. It is supposed to be DVD DL burning compatible. When it comes to backing up movies it won't burn ISO images etc. Has anyone been able to get the drive to work properly on DVD DL's?

Not specific to your drive, but Verbatim and DVD Decrypter are always mentioned when it comes to dual layer disks.
