cdr burn on new laptop question

my friend got a new laptop and she burnt her cd unsing windows media player all the files were mp3s. The cd will play on her pc but not outside of the pc on players. Any ideas? burn speed to fast? Shes a noob.

Most CD players only recognize uncompressed audio files. MP3 is a special compressed audio file format that computer software identifies and plays in addition to the regular CD audio files. Some car stereo players are available now that can play both types, and some DVD player can do the same.

In order to get most audio CD players to play back those files, they have to be converted to .wav files in the computer, than recorded to CD-Rs with software that will create the proper audio files. That will probably mean more discs because a .wav file can be 10X larger than the equivalent MP3 file.

Most CDDA Players only play Red Book Plain audio. Some can play MP3 cds and many dvd players will play both MP3 CDs and DVDs.
