Xbox live error message when using gold trial

Okay i got Rainbow six vegas live. it came with a 48-hour xbox live gold trial card. When i type in the card the Xbox Live Marketplace(after going to Redeem Code), i sucessfully entered the code correctly but then i get an error message:
Cannot retrieve information from xbox live. Please Try again later. status code 80153004

This has been happenning to me for about a week. I know for a fact the card isnt used/incorrect or else it would tell me. I went on the offical xbox live site but nothing helped. Any Advice/recommendations......?

Also, if i buy say a 1 month xbox live gold card, would i have to use the same procedure as using a free trial card or what......?
