I have the most current version of AnyDVD and using Shrink to burn. When I place the DVD in, AnyDVD scans it and removes what it can. But when I proceed to use Shrink, I get the error message that "Shrink has encountered an error.......". I've searched around AfterDawn to see if anything has been done about this particular movie or any other Sony movies released in it's timeframe, but I don't think a resolution has been discovered. But here is the data when checking the information from AnyDVD, here is what it reads:

Summary for drive E: (AnyDVD 6.1.3.3)
LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-1635S YGS4 2005/10/21 15:14
Drive (Hardware) Region: 1

Media is a DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 1
Total size: 2294912 sectors (4482 MBytes)

Video DVD (or CD) label: SHOTTAS
Media is CSS protected!
Video Standard: NTSC
Media is locked to region(s): 1!

RCE protection not found.
Found & removed wrong DVD structure!
Found & removed structural copy protection (Arccos, Puppetlock)!
Found & removed bogus title set!
Autorun not found on Video DVD.
Found & removed 4 bad sector protections!
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!

Has AnyDVD resolved this issue or will I have to use AnyDVD and a combination of anything program to get through it? Maybe CloneDVD can help?

Shrink and AnyDVD no longer work well together with newer protections. With AnyDVD Slysoft suggests ripping with CloneDVD. RipIt4Me rips and processes for free.

PacMan is correct. If you have NeroUltra Suite you can use NeroRecode to do what Shrink won't do. Or Pac's way with ripit4me or buy Clone DVD.

Glad you joined in to help. Seems the solutions are simple. All jwa1ewa needs to do is decide if freeware or retail is desired.

You don't need to register to download the files, at least when I last checked. The AIO installer is at the bottom of the page.

You're welcome. If you follow bbmayo's guide closely it should work. Note you can do the disc in Full DVD with RipIt4Me, but increases the compression when transcoding. Don't be creative and decide to use Wizard or ISO mode.

Yeah, RipIt4Me works fine. Make sure you have the newest verison. I had 1.5.x and I got errors. The DVD I had, was only single layer so no compression had to be used.

Although i have it, i don't use clonedvd2 but that is the only program i trust to do on the fly decrypting. In my opinion, anyone who on the fly decrypt, is just asking for errors.

Ripit4me to HD with its fixvts or
fabdecrypter with vovblanker to HD first.

Advise to you all, do not on-the fly-decrypt.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

It sometimes takes a little experience to know when to be flexible. AnyDVD and DVD Region + CSS Free are probably the two leading driver type decryption tools. Both do a very good job and a backup is faster using them. But there are times when they're either not appropriate for the job or not up to date to handle it. Then the user needs to have something else in his/her toolkit to get the job done. It's really up to the individual which tool becomes most favored. I've gone with RipIt4Me because it's been a sure thing the past few months. I don't worry as much about whether I'll get the job done or not when I use it. I don't mind the extra few minutes as long as there is a high probability the output is going to be clean of copy protection and DVD compliant.
