MTR 3, what's it like, still a beta?

Hi all. I'm having problems committing my hard earned cash to the development of MTR 3, which I understand you have to pay a donation to by PayPal. I like the idea of a new version of MTR that can deal with new protection that the industry come up with. But isn't paying by PayPal linking yourself, your real name and home address to the developers and who knows who else? Am I being paranoid? Anyway, I haven't committed myself to it so I was wondering if anyone had and what it was like? Are you having success with dvd's that don't work on MTR 2.66?

Also for newbies, there's a DVD ripping guide for OSX users in the guides section which covers some more details.
