I recently purchased a Panasonic PV-GS80, mostly because of it's excellent 16:9 record mode. The TV I use most is 16:9, so that is what recording mode I use However, after burning the video to dvd, I was hoping that it would appear in a letterbox format on a 4:3 TV so it wouldn't squeeze the image, but unfortunately, that's exactly what happens! Is this something that can be adjusted? (i.e. a widescreen movie will have letterbox bars on a standard television, but when played on a widescreen tv, it's full screen)
PLEASE HELP!
Thanks

I'm using Vegas 7.0, and the way to do it in that program is as follows:
Create a 16:9 project
Render it as an NTSC (or PAL) DV widescreen AVI.
Create a new project thats 4:3 and drop the rendered 16:9 AVI onto the timeline.
Render the new project using a 4:3 template.

What software are you using anyway?

Thanks, I'll try that software. I am using Sonic right now.

I'm not familiar with Sonic at all. But the process actually sounds generic enough to work with any program.

Where can I download the software, and do you remember how much it was?
Thanks again.

Vegas Free Trial
Vegas with DVD architect is about 500USD. Worth it if you want to have one of the best tools available at your disposal.
