HI,

very own afterdawn defination: http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/hdmi.cfm

wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI

my own opionion:
HDMI is bascally a rip off standard that was somehow adpoted as the standard for HD content. why rip off i say? HDMI is a registered trademark so any device that use it will need to pay the HDMI people a royalty. Before, the standard RCA plugs are free to use for any company.

and last but not least Why the hell do i see $100 HDMI cables?

They're so damn high for the same reason Verbatim's are. Quality costs.

Actually, it has nothing to do with quality. These cables are actually dirt cheap to make, the creator decided they were so simple and cheap to make, that he decided to fill them with blow, just to inflate the cost. Now, that didn't take to well over here in the states, what with customs and all; so they just keep up the tradition by charging us more, after all it's the thought that counts, right?

lol. I'm sorry, I still can't get over a cable that's three feet long, and costs $100. If it's quality, it better be so good it literally leaps off the screen, cooks me dinner, and gets a job to pay for itself.

Denon is actually making something that others don't offer. Monster makes cables... well so dose Phillips and they are the same quality but much less.

well, you will not get 1080p, but you can get 1080i
you would probably not notice the differnce unless you were a total tech head.(1080i is an interlaced picture while 1080p is in Progressive mode) MY samsung is running my 360 through VGA on 1080i and the picture looks amazing. With that TV you would have to wait for the HDMI version of the 360 to get the best picture, since it doesn't have VGA. It does have component inputs for the standard cables but the stock cables that come with a console are never going to be the best you can make it look.

You won't get 1080p, but you will get 1080i, wich will be fine for the size of that TV. If you were to have a TV over 40 inches you would want 1080p

it was rumor yes, there's no HD-DVD drive in the elite.

You might as well pick up a premium, HDMI is not a must, a bigger drive isn't necessary either IMO. save yourself $100.

I want that Denon reciever since it's upgradable but I don't have the $6,999 to buy it. And monster just doesn't make cables, they make a lot of crap. The monster home theatre reference center comes to mind. You guys can think what you want but quality cables in the end usually end up worth the money you pay.
