Original Backups need to get a samsung Drive, no other works??

Hi all,
I am trying to backup my originals but I do not have a samsung or pioneer 111d, do I definitely need these or would any other dvd readers (to enable me to create an image on schtrom or/and xbox creator) or any other writer (definitely dual layer rewriter) do?

I think as long as your writer has booktype enabled it should write but you would need the samsung to copy the games from originals to harddrive but I could b wrong , Please someone correct my statement if I am wrong .... Mainly because I am in the same proverbial boat as original poster , just waiting to get a 360 to flash soon .
