hi

im trying to copy my gothic 2 (securom new 4.x). in shoeys great tutorial, he writes to use a downloaded bwa-file if you can get one. well i have one, but i dont know if it is from the english or german version of the game. does this matter? because i have the german version and the site where i got the bwa was in english.

yes sure i did. i tried twice with gothic 2 but both didnt work. one didnt install and the second aborted installation at its end. so i took the bwa which was included in a blindwrite-profiler. any suggestions why mines didnt work? i did everything as told in the guide.

Use the CloneCD\TwinPeak Tool method and be sure that you saved your bwa files you created with your drives. Sure you're gonna waste a few cd-r(w)'s but in the long run it's well worth it because I'm confident you can achieve a working backup m8.

How to backup SecuROM 4.8.3^up using CloneCD\TwinPeak Tool:

can i use cd-rw's for making backups??? i read somethere that there will be a difference between cd-r's and cr-rw's.

yes and about gothic 2. i burned the backup once again to be sure that it works on any computer. well, i tried at my neighbour's and there it isnt working. it just starts the game, black screen and then back to windows. ill try to get it working, gonna see. my question is: is it possible that the backup is works on one pc but not on another one?

A) Yes

Don't give up m8! If you struggle to get a working backup then install BlindWrite Suite on your friends pc then make a couple of bwa files with his\her drives= save to floppy

ok it now works at my neigbour. i just had to install a patch, so my backu-up was working but it seems that his computer had some problems as i saw a tech-helpforum for the game where the same back-to-windows bug was described. ill now try to make my own working bwa.

ok now this is strange

i started bwa-builder and loaded my own bwa and the downloaded working one to see where the difference is. well there is none (at least not a big one)! so i now wonder why one cd works and the other one doesnt. i read my own bwa with my burner, a SONY CD-RW CRX201E1, which is a 2 sheeper, isnt it? maybe the guy who uploaded his bwa had a better reader?

A) Yes your cd burner is a "2 sheep burner", but has nothing to to (EFM encoding) when backing up SecuROM 4.8.3&up.
