is anything wrong with your 20gb ps3? im wondering because there is not that much of a difference between the 20/60gb ps3s. both units have hdd, 4 usb ports, HDMI, Blu-ray, wireless controllers etc. i'd only recommend upgrading to the 60gb ps3 if your going to utilize the extra features in say the card readers or wifi. the hdd is upgradeable so if your looking at the 60 simply because it has a larger hdd, you could always just buy a larger hdd, so really that point is a bit of a wash. you already said you don't use the net on consoles so im not sure how much you care about its wireless feature. then there is the silver trim and im not sure what that means to anyone.
the 360 elite which really doesn't seem to be that "elite." i say that now becuase no one really knows what chipset m$ is putting into this machine although it seems as if sites (including this one) are reporting the system to have the 90 nm chipset which is the same chipset that is found in current 360s. m$ was supposed to upgrade or update however you want to look at it, their 360s with a new 65nm chip that would in essence, reduce both heat and power consumption, as well as lower manufacturing costs for m$. this was originally announced back in spring of 2006 or so and was supposed to be implemented in current 360s starting as early as january of 2007. for w/e reason it has been pushed back.
take that as you like but if one remembers how the 360 launched which was somewhat problematic, i wouldn't put it past m$ to once again screw things up. i'd wait a bit to see how consumer reaction is to the "elite" before i jump on the wagon here. just my 2cents.
finally the last and probably most important thing to consider is the GAMES. i don't know what games you like or play but i'd look into what games are out and will be out for each of the systems. see which console satisfies your needs/wants as a gamer. personally i think there has always been a variety of great games and genres on playstation. however xbox seems to be dominanted with shooter type games.

I say keep your PS3 20GB, and just upgrade the HDD. That's what I did.

I would get an Elite! I have both a XBOX, and a PS3, and love them to death! I like the fackt that I am not limited to games avalible on one console. I also like the fact that I can get a game that is out on both consoles, but the came play is better on one over the other. For example: Call of Duty 2 is better on the 360 than PS3.

Can someone explain the difference between the HDMI 1.3 for the PS3 compared to the 360's 1.2? How is the PS3's better? I already own a PS3 20 GB and I do plan upgrading a HDD, but before that I have to get a HDTV first.

For audiophiles, this may hurt. For everyone else, this may induce yawning.
The Xbox 360 Elite will ship with HDMI version 1.2, as opposed to the latest version 1.3. What do you lose with such a monstrous degradation? HDMI 1.3 adds support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio streams; this can be accomplished in HDMI 1.2 if the player can decode these streams into uncompressed audio, but unfortunately neither the Xbox 360 nor HD DVD add-on support it. (For reference, the PlayStation 3 was the first device to use HDMI 1.3.)
Other differences include audio / lip sync technology, a greater transfer speed -- which would matter if you were outputting above 1080p, but that is currently the maximum resolution -- and Deep Color, which again will be more distinguishable in future resolutions.
For now, the only major disparity will be the audio. Does this affect anyone's decision to purchase the Elite?

Q: What?s new in the HDMI 1.3 Specification?
* Higher speed: Although all previous versions of HDMI have had more than enough bandwidth to support all current HDTV formats, HDMI 1.3 increases its single-link bandwidth to 340 MHz (10.2 Gbps) to support the demands of future HD display devices, such as higher resolutions, Deep Color? and high frame rates. In addition, built into the HDMI 1.3 specification is the technical foundation that will let future versions of HDMI reach significantly higher speeds.
* Deep Color?: HDMI 1.3 supports 30-bit, 36-bit and 48-bit (RGB or YCbCr) color depths, up from the 24-bit depths in previous versions of the HDMI specification, for stunning rendering of over one billion colors in unprecedented detail.
* Broader color space: HDMI 1.3 adds support for ?xvYCC? color standard, which removes current color space limitations and enables the display of any color viewable by the human eye.
* New mini connector: With small portable devices such as HD camcorders and still cameras demanding seamless connectivity to HDTVs, HDMI 1.3 offers a new, smaller form factor connector option.
* Lip Sync: Because consumer electronics devices are using increasingly complex digital signal processing to enhance the clarity and detail of the content, synchronization of video and audio in user devices has become a greater challenge and could potentially require complex end-user adjustments. HDMI 1.3 incorporates automatic audio synching capabilities that allows devices to perform this synchronization automatically with total accuracy.
* New HD lossless audio formats: In addition to HDMI?s current ability to support high-bandwidth uncompressed digital audio and all currently-available compressed formats (such as Dolby® Digital and DTS®), HDMI 1.3 adds additional support for new lossless compressed digital audio formats Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio?.

i have the ps3 and xbox 360 lets see the elite does not come with the HD DVD drive so hi def movies are out of the question the ps3 bluray included theres a big plu and call of duty 2 asnt one ps3 call of duty 3 is and yall talk about game play is better i have both games and the ONLY diffrence is the six axis mini games. (kinda gay though) it is trus 30 has more games but its been out about a year longer the 360 is hacked so u can play back ups this is always a big plus but the elite will probly go with a new non hackable dvd drive so it will take time for that if u do decide to ply online u have to pay for xbox live as most know the ps3 is free hope this helps a lil bit more

Just stick with the ps3 and upgrade the hard drive because even do it already came out a couple of month it still has does exclusive title like
Final Fantasy
Virtual Fighter (for now)
God of War 3 ( I hope)
Ratchet and Clank
Tekken 6 ( i think its going to go with the 360 but im not sure)
Motorstorm
Resistance of Fall Man
And the 360 has been out for a long time and the only games that seem to come for the 360 in the future is
Halo3
Gears of War(maybe)
And with the elite you really don't get anything special except now you can play games in 1080p resolution wich the ps3 can already play. and also the 360 games are on 8.5gb dvds while ps3 games are on 25gb bluy ray dics.
Well thats what i think

They even have the option to put the games on a 500GB disk, if they wish, they just realested the prototype, and say it will be avalible in 4 month!

Either way just stick with the ps3 cause it will last you 10 years ( I don't belive it but thats what they claim) over the 360 that only lasted 2 month before it stopped working

I agree. If your gonna' pay for it, it might as well have a LOT less lag and a little less plain dashboard.
I play at my friends house all the time on Ranbow 6: Vegas, and there's no end!!! And he has high speed cable too! It gets extremely annoying, especially when someone shoots and the sound plays for 5 minutes, even when the game is over.

I have no problem with lag... It could be because I am 4 miles away from the severs, but IDK...

There i fixed it for you since your post seemed a bit lame only saying 2 games are out/coming out for the 360 worth getting -_- .
Plus all them games are "Exclusive" to the 360.
Anyway im sure the is some other games i missed, but i think that should be enough exclusive games listed there anyways.
So before you say in future that the is only 1 good game out, and 1 good game coming out for the 360 you should do a bit of looking up on the games that's out and coming out for the 360.

well call of duty 2 and bioshock aren't exclusive to the 360 (so if CoD2 isnt on the ps3, so what? CoD3 is. lol.)
and also add Lair, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, and Killzone to the ps3 list.

No i really think that those are the only 2 games worth waiting and getting. Maybe Fable2, Splinter Cell 5, Bioshock, and Mass Effect are some games to consider but it really isn't that big of a list. O well I have both systems so I won't be missing much anyway.

If you don't play online, stick with your 20. Upgrade the HDD to 120, for something like 100$ off Newegg.

Lol, i can see you must not of played Crackdown, it is a very fun open game to play.
I am in no way knocking the PS3, i know the is some good games coming out for it but i just find it very closed minded and one sided on your behalf to list so many PS3 games and then only list 2 on the 360.
And that was why i fixed your List to add more 360 exclusives.
