Over here in Australia you buy the 'game guarentee' from EB, which cost $3 or $5 depending on the value of the game. If you buy it they will replace your disc unlimited for a year if you screw the disc. It can be in the worst possible condition but they won't take it if it's snapped in half, but that's pretty damn hard to do.
It's actually a pretty sweet deal. The only catch is if they have a pre-owned version of the game you're claiming it on, that's what they give you. You only get a new disc if they have no pre-owned copies of the game; and if you're like me, I won;t put a disc in my 360 with even the tiniest scratch on it, I don't want to stress and screw my laser.
I ruined 3 PS2s by using crappy TDK media so I'm ultra careful bout the discs I use, wether they be original or a back-up.

You don't get a refurb... you now get you own console back. Plus it comes with a new 1 year warranty if it was expired when you sent it in.
Quote: 1. New Warranty Enhancements, Including Cost-Free Shipping and Return of Original Console
We recently announced that we changed the Xbox 360 warranty in the United States and Canada from 90 days to one year from the date of purchase. Now we're adding additional service enhancements, taking Xbox 360 customer service one step further.
- Free Shipping:
In the event your console needs to be returned to us for repair your shipping costs are free. We will immediately send you a postage paid container in which to send us your console, and we will pay for shipping charges to return your console to you.
We are committed to delivering an improved Xbox customer service experience for our Xbox 360 console customers, one that is faster, more efficient and includes shipping free of any charge. From our customer service representatives to our executive team, the entire Xbox team has made delivering on this commitment a top priority.
- New Post-Service Warranty:
If we repair your Xbox 360 within the original warranty period, you will receive either the balance of your original warranty, or 90 days, whichever is longer. In addition, we will now pay for the shipping both ways.
If we repair your Xbox 360 after the warranty period has expired, while you will be responsible for the repair costs, your repaired console will be returned to you with a new, one year repair warranty.
- Return of Original Console
In either an in warranty or out of warranty situation, most customers will now receive their original console back from Microsoft.
2. Faster Service
We are implementing an expedited repair process; upon receipt of the console, Microsoft will repair it and ship it to you within five business days.
3. Enhanced Operations
We're increasing the number of Xbox customer care representatives, enhancing our training processes and further building out our on-site technical support, all so our customers will begin to experience a noticeable improvement in the quality of the service they receive when they contact us.
Xbox will be hiring a customer care champion who will be responsible for ensuring the end-to-end experience for all Xbox customers is first-class, evaluating and implementing new practices and policies to further enhance the Xbox customer experience. We are also adding more staff at the supervisory level, to ensure we serve you better.

I don't really care about a ban. If it happens, it happens. Anyways, I've decided to get out of the backup scene on the 360 and sell all my ****. I have about 110 games and a premium ms28 xbox360. Manu. Date is 11-10-06. Anyone wanna offer me something?
Sorry, off topic but how reliable is it to sell something on craigslist? I have a perfect fake scammer now trying to rid me of my 360.

Takes up waay too much time. My brother wants games, people at work, ect... So I have to "get em all" and that's expensive as hell. So I'll just sell what I have now, except for Guitar Hero 2, buy the elite 360 and go legit.

What do you expect when you tell people that you can make copies of 360 games and mod consoles???? I hardly ever advertise my capabilities for that reason, only to the select few who I'm close to and are computer literate.

First off bro, I don't advertise anything. If someone wants their 360 modded on HERE, I'll offer. And that's only because I LIKE you guys. The people I work with, I do charge them. But working 12 hours a day 6 days a week with a 4yr old son and a 9 month old son and coming home to 10 UPS boxes from friends of friends who told other friends about me... Hell it's too good of money to pass up. BUT, I'M TIRED now. I'll mod 360's but on a limited basis. I am not going to spend the majority of my time downloading and testing various games anymore. I don't NEED all the games, I just wanted them all. But like I said, it's gotten too much for 1 person to handle.

Even at 10 bucks each, it's 14 minutes to read the game, 26 to burn. An hour for 10 bucks isn't worth my time anymore. Especially when you only have MAYBE 4 hours a day to spend with the wife & kids. And I also don't backup games for people that don't have the original. I'm already played with the feds before and I don't want to play with them again.

OK I see now why you wanna go legit....or if I were you, why I would wanna go legit. When you got so many people paying you, and knowing your capabilities, and that you've got the equipment and know how to pirate games, any disgruntled customer or "friend of friend" can send the cops knocking on your door just out of spite. They would probably be like "OK, I broke my xbox that you just modded for me and you won't fix it for free, I'll teach you......". Thats the reason why I wouldn't want to charge people and only help/teach the few close to me about modding. One of my housemates when I was in college was trying to get me to go into a little side business with him...he would get the customers and I would mod xboxes and copy games..50/50 split...hell NO!!! It would be just asking for trouble, fines, and maybe jail time (cause I was broke).
