Hey i cant seem to find any way of updating the software on my phone, nokia 6280.
Its the worst phone ive ever had, so many bugs, just generally awful and a nuisance.
My friend sent his off to be repaired for some reason, and they returned it with the new software (firmware?).
Anyway, i was just wondering if anyone knows if i can get this software of the net, and install it using my data cable?
Any version you can find is great....
thanks.

Alright m8
I take it you are on the 3 network
Your only option m8 is to take it to a Nokia service center or back to the shop where they will send it off to be flashed, but from what I have heard even when they update / upgrade the software you will still have problems with it, the 6280 is a poor choice of phone.
The most stable version is V3.70 (less reported problems)
good luck

FFR, Sony Ericsson phones are good, but then it all depends what features you require in a phone.
If I see your post asking for recommendations provide a list of all the features required and I will give you a list ;-)

One model I can highly recommend straight off for your needs is the Sony Ericsson W810i, admittedly it is not one of the latest model on the block, been around for about a year, but is top notch and can be picked up for as little as £140 (UK price)
I have not tested this model (yet) but I have heard good things about the SE W880i (if you want one of the latest models) then this one is worth a look ;-)
Personally I would look no further than the SE W810i.
I do not know how long the images will stay, but google is your friend ;-)
(((edit))) Forgot to add the SE W850i, I prefer my SE W810i but I also highly recommend the SE W850i

I personally do not like the look of it (N95), no doubt when released it will have alot of bugs that will need sorting out, like many Nokia phones the software is poor IMO. I have and love my Nokia 6131 but also has a few minor software related problems. (not worth sending it off and not having my phone for the next 2-3 weeks)
that is why I love my SE phones most problems are sorted out very quickly.

The latest model I believe is the W880i as mentioned above I have heard really good things about this phone but have yet to handle it myself.
Remember if you do not like the model you choose after buying it you have 14 days to return it. (contract)
Before you buy, try the phone out, Carphone warehouse let me examine the mobile thoroughly before I bought my Nokia 6131, take your time and don't be rushed into buying.
Hope this message has not got to you to late
Let me know how it goes, good luck and all the best. ;-)

Heyyy pazzini.
Well, the handset im getting is the nokia 6233.
Before you put your head in your hands, there are two reasons im getting this handset.
1) It means i get half price line rental for the whole duration of the contract!!
2) I previously had a nokia 6230, and to this day i think its the best phone i've ever had. Everything was brilliant with it! If they made one of those with a 3 megapixel camera and a slightly bigger screen, i would buy one. the 6233 has a 2 megapixel, still an improvement.
I get 1000 texts a month, and 300 minutes. Not bad for £17.50 a month.
Thanks ireland!![afterdawn legend]

You have got yourself a good deal there m8 and as you loved the 6230 then you will love its big brother, although I think you will find some problems especially with reception, random freezing and reseting itself.
Nokia may have sorted this problem with the latest software update, but don't hold your breath.
You made a good choice but not one that I would of recommended + it is a BB5 model so if you wanted to use another network the only way to do it is by asking your network for the code.
Good luck m8 and I hope you have a bug free phone with no nasty surprises (as mentioned above) :-)

HEy pazzini.
You said you wouldnt have recommended it......but it was that, the 6280 (i have that currently), or a V3X which i wouldnt get in a million years because i hate it.
Oh, or i couldve had a few other phones, such as a SE K800 refurb, but that was only half price line rental for 12 out of the 18 months.
And anyway, when i get bored of this phone, i can just buy another one and use my contract phone sim card right ?
:D
P.S, i have a friend who gives BB5 Codes for £10. Ones that WORK.
Thanks ireland!![afterdawn legend]

I would leave that one! Poor deal

You have / will have a 3G sim which will only work in other 3G handsets, so no it will not work in quite alot of models, so your choices will be limited.

I would love to know how, go on tell me, hahaha ;-)

So if i have a phone unlocked onto all networks, my 3G sim wont work in it?
