Are these datasafe discs ok for burning dvd-video? Im thinking about buying some of these discs because of the price and also because they are sold in 10s. Has anyone had any problems with them? (im using a pioneer 105 to burn)

The discs Im talking about are found here... http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/FOR_DVD_R_RW_CLICK_HERE.html (dvd329 on website)

Also could someone tell me if overprints are safe to buy. I saw some on the above website (dvd390)for a very tasty price.

hiya....ive tried these datasafe discs (still am).Ive had no probs with them..not one coaster that wasnt my fault.Price is good too!!Although it always depends on the burner you use.My 105 burns on anything, but its the stand alones that are the most important consideration....some of these seem quite fussy.I also find that burning at 2x gives a better result on a 4x disc.dont know why tho, similar to burning cdrs slower.

oh, and overprints are just that.Just make sure you use a disc with a ritek dye...a nice deep purple and nothing else.!!

Cheers for replying pieman - I would not dream of using anything else that does not contain the ritek dye. I had a few coasters using the princo 4x discs and learned my lesson the hard way.

I wouldnt really use those discs either due to a lot of fake Datasafe and other ritek dyes being used. When i say fake, i mean not manufactured by Ritek. I can check with Conrexx sometime to see if those discs are a Ritek Manufactured disc.

bloody hell now youve got me worried!!!!mind you i suppose the only way you find out if they are fake is if they play up,..i understand that the datasafe use a ritek go4 dye....ive had no probs yet.Mind you i have tried discrite 4x and had probs with them.plus their centre is a yukky white (although thats just personal).I mean, it must be quite hard to fake a dvd isnt it?? how else could you tell?surely not by the numbers on the inner rim cos they can be copied cant they.what do you suggest orphious??

Allin, I've just found a really useful link you might want to try. Just to give you the background I've had some major problems with Bulkpaq (Orange label x4) DVD-r's and my Sony DRX-5100UL the burner just spits out the discs when it tries to burn anything onto them. After looking around a bit the Datasafe discs you mentioned seem to rate favorably on reliability / compatibility. Anyways cutting a long story short I've just ordered some Datasafe x4 discs from www.blankdiscshop.com after checking the following site: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdmedia it has a very handy tool that checks the compatibility of your burner against a brand of disc check it out!!! - MagicMonkey

I highly suggest getting you Ritek from htpp://www.dvd-and-media.com as they are one of the 3 only official Ritek suppliers in the UK. Their 4x Clone Disc are very good, i use them myself.

Thanks for the info Magic Monk.

I did try the clone dvd-r from dvd and media and found they were really good oriphus. Trouble is, Im only after a few discs. I also find that SVP has discs at an affordable price and has alot of nice storage cases.

Anyway, Im waiting on the datasafe discs coming and I will post the results back on this thread.
