hey
i have that old chubby ps2. I've bought swapmagic 3.6 a week ago but the
DVD version didn't work. I sent it back an got a new one, but it looks like this one doesn't work either. The cd version does work. But i have another problem. this morning i tried to load an elf with the cd version (cdloader) of a usb stick, and i got the elf to work. But when i try it now it doesn't work anymore:S
So i have 2 problems: my DVD swapmagic doesnt work and somehow i can't load elfs of a usb stick anymore:S
does anybody know what to do?

edit:
when i name the elf file SWAPMAGIC or SMBOOT0 instead of SWAPMAGIC.ELF or SMBOOT0.ELF and try to load them, i go back to my ps2 browser.

You have to call them SWAPMAGIC.ELF or SMBOOT0.ELF

They always have to be in caps and you need the ELF on the end as well.
And you can boot the elfs with the CD version, it doesn't matter. But in the meantime I would send back the DVD version anyway til you get one that works. Just make sure the DVD is down on the spindle proper also in case thats the only problem.

What type of USB device do you have or I guess you said its just a stick. What size is it.
I will also ask you what exactly are you wanting to do?
Have you used your SM discs to try any backups, if yes do they work.

Have you tried to format the usb stick again, first with NTSF and then I would format it with USBExtreme_wininst.

Ok NTFS is a file system used in Windows xp. All you need to do is download UsbExtreme from here: and select USBeXtreme Windows mode Client Software (ENG .zip file) 166KB . Then unzip it to a folder and run the executable. In the middle tab is Format, it explains there and just run it.
Its been awhile since I have done this so it should then format it to Fat32 after its done.
There is a great guide here and will also tell you how to format to FAT32.
