i have Nero and when I use it to burn my regular shot footage (home movies, etc) onto a dvd disc it ends up being jumpy and the audio and video usually ends up out of sync.

but when I back up dvds i have just bought, the process works perfectly because the dvd is shrunk into an ISO file, so my question is: Is there someway to get my video footage into an ISO file format so that it could possibly burn better.

All of my dvds burned from ISO files have turned out perfectly, while all of my dvds burned from my own footage always end up a bit OFF.

thanks

1. Use Nero only for burnig... Thats only thing it is good for.

2. Look Guides-section to see how to convert .avi files to dvd-format. (Other video formats to DVDR)
After converting, you can use Nero to burn those files to dvd like this.

3. If u still want to try this using image ->
Open Nero and when you are ready to burn -> Ctrl+R and select Image Recorder.
Then when you start to "burn" change that .nrg to .iso image format.

Just for curiosity, how do you get the home movies into the PC and in what format are they before you burn them with Nero?

thanks for the advice one member I will give that a try

i get my videos on the comp just by fire wire, thru the basic windows movie maker software, nothing fancy there. so they are in MPEG format.

basically i am just trying to get mpeg into ISO files (or something equivalent to an ISO file).

When the MPEG files get to the PC, are they ok?
Sometimes happens that the out-of-sync problem happens in the transfer.

yea the mpegs play alright on my computer, i watch them one time through to make sure theyre good. the problem always happens when the mpeg goes gets burned onto a dvd via Nero, its as if Nero (or maybe my computer) doesnt have the capability to transfer mpeg files onto dvd adequately, I tend though not to think its a problem with my computers capability because my computer burns adequate back up copies to all of my dvds.

You can try bringing the files into this program. It will output to a DVD folder which you can burn with Nero or DVD Shrink + DVD Decrypter.

Example:
You have three MPEG files.
1.mpg
2.mpg
3.mpg
Browse to the folder containing the file.
<Ctrl> click on 3-2-1.
Set 'Aspect' to your TV set (4:3)
Set "Standard' to PAL or NTSC

Convert AVI to VOB with VSO DivX2DVD
http://dl.afterdawn.com/vsoDivxToDVD_setup_v0.5.2b.exe

Check the output folder to see if the .VOB file(s) are in sync before using Nero or another burning program.
