My PSP works fine on battery but doesn't seem to recognise external power any more.

The orange light doesn't come on when I connect the a/c adaptor and the system/battery information shows it's still on battery power only.

I can charge the attery up in another PSP and the external power works fine on another PSP.

Sounds like the something's broken on the PSP from the DC-IN connector - which used to work fine.

Any ideas what could have gone wrong. Is there a simple fix or is it a new motherboard job?

Cheers

Take the battery out and plug the ac adapter in. Then turn your PSP on and see if your PSP can run with a charger source.

Tried with the battery out and just external power - no orange light, no green light and the unit won't turn on.

That's right - I'm using a second PSP to charge the battery.

Thinking of getting an external charger to do the same, but it's a bit inconvenient having to take the battery out to charge it - I've got very used to putting games into standaby half way through which I lose if I have to take the battery out.

Plus, the battery cover is not the easiest of things to open

Just wanted to see if there was a quick fix to get this one charging again.
