Ok, here is my problem. My Ps2 is acting odd these few month, because it can no longer read any PS2 games I burn. Ps burn games are working just fine. I have my Ps2 for like 4+yrs.
My Ps2 is the fat type, but which version I am unsure. I do have a modchip, but it was already implanted in when I bought it, so I don't know what type it is. I was told that to use it I need to hit eject button and then hit reset to use the modchip, maybe that can help.
I am using Sony DVD-R right now to burn games, and so far none is working. I used to use TDK DVD+R for burning and those work for a good 3 years or so. I have to make new copy every so often though, because they stop working or turn choppy after a month. Slowly my Ps2 can't read my burn PS2 game, so I tried buying Sony's DVD-R, but the difference it makes are nothing so far. So my Ps2 can't read any of my Ps2 back up now. However, any of my Ps game last very long and work 100%.
As for what I use for burning, I tried Alcohol 120%, Nero,DVD Decrypter. I only use Alcohol for the first working three years, after my PS2 games stop working, I tried the rest to see if it help and no it doesn't. I always burn at the lowest speed,1x.
I tried to fix the problem many ways, including opening the Ps2 to clean and adjusting the light, but nothing works. I had a friend who bought games from Hong Kong, which are illegal copies, and I borrowed a copy game from him to test on my Ps2. To my suprise, it works very nice, while I switch back to my own back up Ps2 games, they are unreadable. So far, I only have problem starting the game up, where the Ps2 Logo coming on before the game starts. Usually after that part, my games always work perfectly. I also tried buring my friend's Ps2 game and see if it works on my Ps2, but it get the same result as my other burn Ps2 games. Sorry for typing so much, but please help me out here, this odd problem has been bothering me for a while now. Thanks for taking the time to read this problem of mine.

Sony DVD-Rs are OK but the best media is Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.
TDK are terrible - the quality of them decline over time and they are bad for your laser, TDKs make the laser work pretty hard.
Get yourself some Verbatim 8x and burn at 4x, or get Taiyo Yuden 8x also burnt at 4x, and see if that works.
If it doesn't, it's possible your laser is on it's way out. I ruined 3 PS2s by using shi*ty TDK discs that fried the lasers, until I did some proper research and started using good brands like Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden (I've never actually Taiyo Yuden but I hear great things about them from people on these boards).

I don't think my Ps2 is dead yet, because some of the games my friend bought from Hong Kong and Ps games still works 100% on my Ps2. The brand those Hong Kong people used are odd names I never heard of like, Wagon. Maybe it is my dvds or my burner problem?

Try using another burner. Sounds like your burner is to blame. I only use verbatim never made a Coaster from a good image yet.

I tried another burner, but the results are the same. However, I notice something odd. Even if my game doesn't load up, it sents me to the main screen where there is two choice. I can choose to check the memory card and something else. After I choose browser, I see the Ps2 reading my disc. After like 5min, it STILL say reading disc. I have read many topic here about how to fix disc read error(The red screen with a line saying not insert a disc), but right now, for me, nothing gets load up. It won't read Ps2 game DVD I backup and its not due to error but rather due to just can't read. How do I fix this? Please Help!

Just burn the iso file with Alcohol 120% or some other iso burner to a cd.
