Firstly, this all started about a few weeks ago when I wanted to mod my ps2. So I bought a Duo 3 gold and I had a V2 Ps2, the thick one. I also have pretty good soldering skills, so I thought... Little did I know I would have to solder directly to the pins on the chip. I got all of them except the one wheres its the narrow pins and its 3 right next to each other. No matter how hard i tried i got solder touching the other pins. And in the process of undoing my mod job i screwed up the ps2.

So I grew the balls to just go and buy a new one from Best Buy. Saw that it was V16 SCPH-77001 CB. And on this one you don't have to solder any of directly to the pins just to the copper pads. I was thrilled. Until I cracked open the ps2 slimline. I couldn't find a digram for the motherboard version I have. Its GH-052-02. NOT GH-051-02. So, I'm unsure if its going to work anyway. The motherboard looks almost identical except for the Z point. That hole or point isn't their anymore.

On a side note I was wondering how the hell you guys managed to solder to such tiny tiny holes? The wire itself is too thick to even go in the hole. I think I can manage all em except the ones where the hole is too small and too close to each other. And then, I'm not sure it will even work then because of my motherboard being too new. Anybody have any ideas?

I don't know if it works or not, but I have a MODBO 4.0 and it works with the model scph-7001 CB. The solder points on this chips and diagrams are not 100% alike, but can help. Visit Modbo.com for more info. Better yet, you should ask the folk at Duo gold chip that you bought from. Because you bought a fairly new model, not all chip are compatible.

About solder help! It comes with practice. There are some places that have tutorials for you if you search hard enough. If you still need help, ask again.
