why do all the extra steps. Why not burn from the hdd to the -r and simplify the process. especially if you keep the files on your hdd. That is a lot of extra steps.

Two programs best to use are AnyDVD and CloneDVD.

You will get no coasters from these two!

Are you multitasking whilst burning - screen saver etc - recommend not to you unless you have a pc with super specs.....

Are you copying rw to r on the fly?

I would not recommend this if your burner/media are capable of higher speeds..

If you are using a slower reading disc compared to a higher burning disc, the most common problem you can encounter are buffer under runs - this basically means that the burner HAS TO PAUSE/HOLD in order for the reader to keep up - Your RAM will be filling and emptying but also cannot keep up.......
(rw's are slow to read)

I have tried this on several occasions from my +rw standalone - to just burn it on the fly and I get buffer underuns.....

Don't think your dvdrom is screwed, i think it is down to the chase me syndrome - as in the rw has trouble keeping up with the writer.....

If your re-authoring method is good, try just burning directly from the HD to r, you can run it through powerdvd first from the HD to check the audio etc first, after a few, you will not even HAVE TO check them cos it'll become second nature, I think you would benefit more by doing this......

It must be a pain to do an erase all the time on the rw's......

Hope this helps.....

...............PIO is no go, DMA all the way...............
Beware of the Pixies - they move in over night and turn your life upside down
