When I transfer the file from dvd backup to TOAST and try to burn it says that there is a source error. what does this mean? What do I do to fix?

Use the tried N tested method ;

DVD Decrypter
DVD 2One / DVD Shrink

Then burn with Either Nero ,Record Now or Copy 2 DVD . Oriphus gives a good site on his signature - http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/user_guides.htm this will show you how to get started.
