Okay I recently bought a pre-modded ps2. It's a v14 slim, with a modbo 3.0 chip. when I first got it in the mail after a week, the thing didn't work at all so I sent it back. They fixed it, and after two weeks I got it back again. This same site also sold me 36 games of my choice. Well, after testing all the games, only 11 of the 36 actually work. I figured their games were messed, but then I tested my old backups I'd play on my old flip-top before it died, and 80% of those don't work either. So... what is going on here? Any advice? Is this normal, or is there something wrong with the chip or the installation? I tried to contact the store that I bought this from... and they're mysteriously non-existent now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, even if it's that I should just curl up into a little ball and weep. Thanks,

i think you may have just gotten the shaft. You could always send it to a good shop like Teammodders.com (if in the USA) and they could either fix it or install a real chip (modbo 3.0 is not only the old version of the chip, but also just a cheap Matrix Infinity clone with no upgradable firmware)
It could be the chip install, it could be a dirty laser, it could be that the laser needs adjusting, or it could be a bad laser.

Well. Thanks for the advice. I guess I'll be emailing teammodders, even though I have no idea who they are. But, that name seems to come up a lot around here, so I guess I can trust them. Man, I swear, some people are just really messed up. This business that disappeared on me, had told me that I had a "lifetime warranty" through them, meaning they'd fix anything that went wrong. Pffft. I wonder if I can tell my bank about it and get my money back?

yeah, a life time warranty is an easy thing to give out when you are a "fly by night" company that can just pick up and relocate & rename your business to sell to a few more people, the repeat the process.

I am a moderator at Teammodders and have been for quite some time. I can tell you that their installs are top notch and THEY will stand behind their work. When they do an install you get a 30 day warranty free, and can buy a 90 day warranty for only $8. Try that at your local electronics store.
Go to teammodders.com and sign up. Then look through the PS2 section at the install pictures. http://www.teammodders.com/forum/ps2-install-pics-f53.html
Then also look at the site feedback section. You do not have to believe me, you can read the feedback from a lot of their customers yourself, http://www.teammodders.com/forum/site-feedback-f43.html

the best judge of a business is their customers and what they have to say. And the best advertisement is word of mouth which is why you have seen the name posted before.

ya , always buy from trusted sites like trustedmods.com or teammoders.com . because both places have been around for a while so you know you wont get the shaft and if you have a problem there is some1 to go back to atleast .

Well, I emailed teammodders. I got a really well-written, well-thought out email in return. So far, I'm impressed! Once again, thanks for the advice man. I shall be shipping them my ps2, in the hopes that this will be the last 100 bucks I drop over all this.

It should be, once you have a mod chip you should be set (well other than all the blank DVD's you will be buying, LOL)
Just make sure that when you buy DVD's get a good brand like Verbatim or it will not be the last money you will spend, because cheap media can wear down the laser faster due to the fact that the machine has to work harder to read them.

Teammodders.com has a lot of great people, two i know that do PS2 installs (screennames) Teammodder and Davbere are both top notch installers and really good guys. I have them do my work for me and anyone i know. Had a laser and chip install in a V5/6, never a problem. Had my V12 put in an HD Combo case with a hard drive (already chipped), again no problems. And i bought my slighty used, premodded Xbox from them and it has been running strong since day 1.
